Caught Up with Mad Men

Oh no! We’re caught up with Mad Men. We’ve been jamming through the first season on Netflix and through the first few episodes of the second season on demand, but we’re now caught up with current episodes. We can’t watch them at our own pace anymore, which has been fervent and furious.

Orwell Diaries

The Orwell Diaries are being updated daily in “real time.” Definitely worth a look, if not a daily read. I have not read much of Orwell’s work, but “Politics and the English Language” is a favorite of mine.

Happy Anniversary, B!

American Beats Federer

Congratulations, James Blake. No matter what happens now, you have secured your place in history by knocking Roger Federer out of the 2008 Olympics. USA! USA!

The Olympics!

The Olympic games are on! Woo hoo! We had Natalie and Sonny over on Friday to watch the opening ceremony, and the show just about blew our minds. Good job, China! Sonny felt bad for London, having to follow that show. He suggested that maybe they pass to Greenland. LOL.

We were riveted watching swimming and gymnastics last night. The human interest stories are too fascinating to be true; like the 33-year old gymnast competing for Germany, the country where her young son was treated for, and saved from, leukemia, or Laure Manaudou and the Italian love triangle.

But the best part of these games so far was definitely the men’s 4 x 100-meter freestyle race. During the final 50 meters, I was standing up, jumping up and down screaming, “Go! Go! Go!!!” We were jubilant when they won, high-fiving each other, shouting insults at the defeated, smack-talking French on TV. When I came to work this morning, I made sure to rub it in with the one french guy I know, Raoul. His response: “Shut up.” Oh, it’s on. Go USA!
